Where the Pain Comes From

The hand is dense with tendons, nerves and small joints running through tight tunnels.Swelling in those tunnels pinches nerves and catches tendons. Arthritis wears the small joints, and the thumb base takes the most load.Falls onto an outstretched hand break the wrist or the scaphoid. Lumps are most often ganglion cysts, which are benign. Each has a specific exam finding and a specific fix.
