Bring a photo ID, your insurance card, and a list of current medications and allergies.If you have had X-rays or an MRI elsewhere, bring the disc or tell us where it was done so we can request it.Wear clothing that lets us examine the area. Shorts for knee, hip and ankle visits; a sleeveless or loose top for shoulder and elbow visits. Arrive fifteen minutes early to complete forms, or complete them online in advance where available.

Do I Need a Referral
Most PPO plans do not require a referral to see an orthopedic surgeon.Many HMO plans and some Medicare Advantage plans do. Check your card or call the number on the back, and we will help if the answer is unclear.If a physician referred you, bring any notes or imaging orders they gave you. If you were injured at work, bring your claim number and the name of your employer contact.

What Happens at the Visit
Your surgeon or a physician assistant will take a history, examine the area, and review or order imaging.X-rays can be taken on site. Most first visits take forty-five to sixty minutes.You will leave with a diagnosis or a plan to reach one, and a treatment plan that starts with the least invasive effective option. If surgery is recommended, our scheduling team walks you through next steps before you leave.
